Before the middle of April, the Solvay softball team had already earned impressive victories over two of its toughest OHSL Liberty division neighbors. Coming off its 15-0 shutout over Westhill on April 12, the Bearcats ventured to Marcellus two days later and had its lowest run total of the season, but still rolled past the Mustangs 9-1.

Off to hot starts, the Westhill and Marcellus boys lacrosse teams did not want to lose any of its momentum before the harder part of its schedules. With a showdown against state Class C no. 1-ranked Cazenovia looming, the Warriors, who were no. 8 in the first state Class C poll of the spring, saw last Tuesday’s game with Tully postponed, while the Mustangs had its game with Onondaga also pushed back to a later date.

Perhaps the best thing for someone that has thrown away a comfortable lead, as the West Genesee baseball team did in Monday afternoon's game against Cicero-North Syracuse at Gillette Field, is to just start over. That's what the Wildcats did, turning to Colin BeVard to deliver the big swing in the seventh inning that gave his side a 7-5 victory over the Northstars and improve to 6-1 on the season.
