Rams beat powerful Wildcats for third straight year
Jamesville-Dewitt and West Genesee both put on a display of quality boys lacrosse Saturday afternoon, but there could only be one winner in this annual battle of powerhouse programs. And it proved to be the Red Rams, again, as it continually fought off the Wildcats' second-half rallies to emerge victorious, 13-11. It marked the third straight year J-D has won in this series.

WG girls keep control in sectional finals rematch
West Genesee picked up just about where it left off in 2011, beating Baldwinsville, 11-6, on Saturday in the season opener for both teams. The game was a rematch of last year’s Section III Class A final. The Wildcats won that day and eventually reached the state semifinals.

Cooly efficient, West Genesee shut out Fayetteville-Manlius, 2-0, Wednesday night in the Section III Division I ice hockey semifinal at Shove Park. The No.1 state-ranked Wildcats got second period goals from Jon Lauer and David Procopio and let its vaunted defense and goaltending do the rest, as goaltender Jacob Pelton needed only 14 saves to post the shutout, WG's 14th of the season.

From the depths of an 0-5 start, the Marcellus boys basketball team now finds itself one of four survivors in the Section III Class B playoffs. Kyle Hastings scored 22 points to power the no. 12 seed Mustangs past no. 13 seed and two-time defending champion Westhill, 43-35, in Friday night's Class B quarterfinals.
WG girls dominate paint, beat Corcoran
Wildcats' 61-45 win earns trip to Class AA semis
West Genesee's girls basketball team dominated the paint in its 61-45 girls’ basketball rout of visiting Corcoran Thursday night in the Section III Class AA quarterfinals. When the no. 3 seed Wildcats (15-4) weren’t dropping in layups, they were pulling down offensive rebounds, and Corcoran coach Jim March came away impressed by the hosts effort down low.

Bees ousted in last game of regular season
With a single and decisive result, the Solvay ice hockey team moves into the Section III Division I playoffs - and Baldwinsville is kept out. Solvay ended B'ville's season with a 4-2 triumph in a Division I boys’ hockey game Friday night at Allyn Arena in Skaneateles, which has served as the Bearcats' home rink for most of this season.

WG boys fall to Ithaca in hoops tourney final
Westhill beaten by Little Red, Massena
West Genesee proved to be too nice a host in its Booster Club Basketball Holiday Tournament. The Wildcats advanced to Thursday night's final, but had no answers for a strong Ithaca team waiting for them. The Little Red earned the first-place trophy, pulling away from WG in a 68-55 decision.
